Are You A Drama Queen (Or King)?
By SwankMaster©2025
Have you ever been around people who seem to love arguing, or get an attitude over things that most of us don’t even consider upsetting? Are you one of those people?
They are called drama queens and kings. It seems like they need to be in a dispute of some kind on the regular. They get mad at someone or something for the littlest of reasons. And in extreme cases, no matter what you say or what topic you discuss, the drama session will turn ugly.
It is true: some people just cannot stand long moments of peace and contentment. When they are alone they get bored and don’t quite know what to do with themselves. Many drama Qs and Ks argue with themselves when no one is around. (I know because there are some in my family who do that.) The drama must continue so they may find fault with the color of paint in their apartment, or even call and ask you to come over while sounding as if the sky is falling down. But when you arrive she tells you that she’s upset because “Jane” won’t talk to her. Never will she tell the whole story and say that she was at fault. She needs dramatic sympathy right now. She feels as if everyone is jealous of something about her.
And the drama king has to be loud and a little obnoxious. He gets into noisy arguments over a sports game, and he’s constantly bragging about something. He may even look down on you.
Believe it or not, this is a mental condition called, Histrionic Personality Disorder. But it can be helped with therapy. The reason therapy will work is because the disorder may have stemmed from a traumatic event in your life, such as being abused or having to fight and argue growing up. Many people have post-traumatic stress disorder. That should be addressed before focusing directly on the drama aspects of the disorder.
But yes, you can actually kill the drama in yourself. It starts with you admitting that you are a drama queen/king. The second and hardest thing you can do to kill the drama is tell yourself that you will stop arguing with people. (It takes two to argue.) Yes, bite your tongue and let them argue with themselves. That will be hard to do, but it helps if you only talk about things that you have knowledge about instead of what you “heard” from someone else. Keep practicing “not arguing.” And don’t jump in conversations that you were not invited to.
However, If you just can’t help seeking attention--and your emotions fly all over the place regularly--then make an appointment to see a psychologist. There is no shame in getting help with your mental shortcomings. Why continue to be irritated by the littlest of things?
Think about all the positive, creative thoughts that never crossed your mind because it was focused on negative thoughts and ridiculous things instead. Prove to yourself that you can actually manage your own faults and improve upon them. Think about how beautiful flowers and butterflies are, or start learning how to meditate. Take ten deep breaths before you decide to jump headfirst into another drama episode. Practice not talking to yourself for at least an hour a day. Join a debate club where healthy arguments occur. Become a community activist where you can express yourself loud and clear. But if nothing else works, then plan to see that head doctor for your own sake.
Negative thoughts are invisible little pockets of poison that actually affects the body in unhealthy ways. Do you get sick easily? Does your body sometimes feel pain that seems to come from nowhere? Is it hard for you to relax? Your thoughts are probably poisoning your immune system.
Yes you may be a drama queen/king, but really...do you have to be?

We Should Know The 5th Amendment
By SwankMaster©2025
Let’s be clear. For many of us African-Americans, exercising our right to remain silent is a ticket to police harassment and abuse and “obstruction of justice” charges. If we’re in court and we plead the 5th, we will be deemed guilty in the eyes of the court or the jury if on trial. No wonder so many of us look at the Bill Of Rights as a joke.
But when a cop tells you that “You have the right to remain silent,” you really do. If I’m accused of something that I did not do (or actually did do) I am keeping my mouth shut because anything I say will be used against me in a court of law.
For example, if you are pulled over in traffic because a cop ran the plates on the car while driving behind you and discovered that the owner of the car does not have a driver’s license, you can exercise your right to remain silent. Here’s why:
When the cop ran the plates, a picture of the owner of the vehicle came up on his computer screen. So when he walked up to the car and saw you, he knew that you were not the owner. (He also knows that the car was not reported stolen.) Right then and there the cop should have let you go after explaining the stop.
But cops don’t usually do that. They ask for your I.D. and then go back and run a check on your name. However, remember that this cop just racially profiled you. You did nothing wrong when he pulled you over. And since you didn’t violate any traffic laws, you should just be quiet and let the cop talk. Don’t respond to his questions. If he asks for your I.D. just say “no.” If he decides to arrest you for not cooperating, then he has just given you a “harassment & intimidation” lawsuit. In court he will have to justify a stop that he cannot, plus the illegal arrest.
However, depending on how drunk on power he is, you might end up in jail for a few hours or possibly a day. Do not volunteer your I.D. Make them take it from you without your permission. Now they have committed an illegal search of your person, which will add to your lawsuit. I’ll trade that time in jail for a cash settlement any day.
From the beginning the cop knew he was wrong but since you’re black he generally doesn’t think you know your rights; or will be too scared to exercise them.
Hey, I understand cooperating--right or wrong-- with the cops. You just want to get them the hell away from you as quickly as possible and go on about the rest of your life.
Whatever unconstitutional mistreatment you receive when a cop accosts you, please do Not have a confrontation with them. Far too many of them are trigger happy. You may be right, but don’t be dead and right. Many times when the cops bother us we get mad at the injustice and inconvenience of it. Since you’re already upset, just do to the cops what you generally do to other people when they make you mad: don’t talk to them.
